Router Switchover - Minor Service Interruption likely
Scheduled Maintenance Report for Digital Craftsmen
Postmortem

Dear Client,

Unfortunately the deployment did not go as planned and resulted in longer downtime than was expected. We had problems with the virtualisation infrastructure not seeing the new routers and therefore not being able to reach the outside world. After 25 minutes we decided to roll back the change and reconnect to our old routers which reconnected successfully.

We will be analysing the logs and outputs from the work to understand what went wrong and be able to redeploy the change successfully at a later date.

regards,

Paul Orrock

Scheduled
Hi,

We will be doing this work between 11pm and midnight on Thursday the 24th of October and is the final piece of work for our core upgrade for this year.

After a period of bedding in the new datacentre and equipment, we're now ready to move our external connections across to the new routers. This will involve some packet loss and likely short interruptions to live customer services whilst the internet routes adapt during this maintenance window but should be less than 15 mins in total.

We have full rollback capability because we are switching to use new fully tested connections on our new routers so we can rollback our changes by simply reconnecting our old routers.

If you have any questions, please ask.

regards,
